Gypsy-travellers have a venerable history in Britain and Ireland stretching back centuries. Being one of their oldest ethnic minorities.
Traditionally nomadic, travelling families would journey together in search of seasonal work and the opportunity to trade their livestock and handiwork at annual fairs.
Nowadays Gypsy-travellers, like many other minorities, need to adapt an ancient culture into a contemporary way of life. But still preserve the traditions and culture that will sustain the identity of the community, and proud of their cultural inheritance, still seek to express it in the way they live.
